ClientEarth uses the power of law to protect people and the planet.
It is a leading group of lawyers, and policy and communications experts that use the law as a tool to mend the relationship between human societies and the Earth. They work in Europe and beyond, bringing together law, science and policy to create practical solutions to key environmental challenges.
In 2017, ClientEarth won in two separate categories at The Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Award Europe - 'standout in the rule of law and access to justice category' and 'highly commended in the dispute resolution category’. They were also named Charity of the Year at the Charity Times Awards 2017.
Award focus description:
Illegal and harmful levels of air pollution are taking a heavy toll on the health of people across the UK. Breathing this dirty air affects all of us but some are more vulnerable than others, such as children, older people and people with existing health conditions. The awarded funding has provided ClientEarth with the core support to progress their pioneering Clean Air programme that has made air pollution a critical environmental and public health issue.
With the support of the Trust, ClientEarth will continue to hold governments responsible for cleaning up polluted air through a targeted legal strategy and public affairs campaign. This will ensure the UK Government provides the right for people to breathe clean air through new policy and legislation.
